久しぶりのヒットです！

人によって好みは違うと思いますが、私は前作“Playing the Angel”や前々作“Exciter”よりも好きです。飽きずに毎日聴いてます！

デモ音源も聴くべきものでいっぱい

我々、デペッシュ・モードのファンにとって重要なのはやはり「音源」であり、同時に「アートワーク」の素晴らしさも、同時に欲しいものであります。
結果は、どちらも文句なしの出来になりました。「ウォーキング・イン・マイ・シューズ」を、マーティン・ゴアが歌っているのを聴いたときには、やや耳を疑いたくなりました。デモ音源「クリーン」の荘厳なおももちは、ちょっと姿勢を正して聴くべきもの。もちろん「サウンズ・オブ・ザ・ユニバース」自体にも、文句がありません。
アートワークもなかなかいい。メンバーの写真が主で、おなじみアントン・コービンによるものもあります。ただ、「値段が高いなあ」と感じたので☆は４つです。そこを除けば、まったく文句はありません。

聞きやすく且つ、満足度も高い

自分には、これくらいがちょうど良いかも。

Depeche modeというと、どうしても奈落まで落ちていくかのような、どこまでもダウナーな内容になるような印象があったりする(それはそれで好きなのだけど)
が、これはポップな部分が残り聞きやすい。

とはいえ厚みが無い、薄いということではなくて、いつものデペッシュの
良さはちゃんと残り、満足させてくれる。

聞いた中では個人的にこのアルバムが一番好きかも。

素晴らしい！！

彼らが原宿（ピテカン）、赤坂（ラテンクオーター）で初来日した時、ピテカンの時に
観に行ったのが、今でも懐かしい思い出です。
早速購入して、毎日聴いてますが、なるほど、音響的にはもうやることがない彼らです
が、聴けば聴くほど、奥が深い作品ではないでしょうか。
個人的には、Peace,Oh Well,Wrongは素晴らしい。
ビンテージものの機材である、アナログシンセやドラムシンセを購入したんですね。
自分も購入したDSソフトのKORG DS-10で、アナログシンセごっこしてますが。

聞いても聞いても

聞いていなかった音を発見出来るというか、まさに「スルメ」な一枚。
今回ヴィンテージ楽器を使っているためか、レトロな風合いを踏襲しているようにも聞けるが、聞くたびにデペッシュモードの「新しさ」をも体感することが出来る。

「in sympathy」「perfect」が今のところ好きかな。
聞き込めば変わってきそうだけど・・

結成30年、これからも是非、新しい音を。

ビター

デペッシュモードの音楽って難しそうでなんだか心に刺さるんですよね。
洋楽とか普段全然聴かないんですけどデペッシュモードは別。
カッコいい悪魔みたいな音楽ですよ。
あ、良い意味で悪魔。
普段聴く普通の音楽が良いモンならデペッシュは悪モン（笑）
もちろんいい意味で。
悪者が欲しい時もありますよね？
そんなビターな音楽、最後までジックリ味わってみることをお勧めします。

スルメ盤かと思いきや…意外なポップさの片鱗が良い感じ

自分はこのアルバムでデペッシュ・モードを初めて知ったわけだが、

あまりこういったシーンに詳しくない人間（まあ自分もそうなのだが）は「なんだこりゃ」と思うかもしれない。

一聴すれば、その楽曲の優れた構成力と安定感が伝わってくるのだが、キャリアも長さもあってか決して派手さがあるわけではなく、“渋い”とも形容できる様な重厚感のあるアルバムに感じたのだ。

そういった印象を抱きながら、「これはいわゆるスルメ盤ってやつかな」と思って最初は聴いていたのだが…時より現れるポップセンスには思わず心を掴まれてしまった。

特に４曲目「flagile tension」のトラックなんて、昨今のテクノポップブームで耳が肥えてきている人はスルーせずにはいられないんじゃないか。

そこにのっかってくるボーカルのメロディーは王道のUKといった感じで、やっぱり決してそのまま期待通りに突き抜けてキャッチーというわけではないのだが、それがなんだかジラされてる気分で、Mっ気のある自分には逆に良かったりする（笑）

そうこうしながらモジモジと聴いていると、いつの間にか中毒的に取り憑かれた様についリピートしている自分がいるのだ。淀んでいる流れの中でフワフワと浮遊しながらも、意識はハッキリと昂ぶっている様な不思議な感覚に襲われた。

エレクトロニック初心者がもう一歩深い世界に進むにはとてつもなく素晴らしいアルバムなんじゃないだろうか。是非一聴してほしい。特にMな人には（笑）

「進化」ではなく「深化」

　ライブ作品「Touring the Angel」では全曲生ドラムの導入を試みるなどサウンド面での進化を見せ付けていただけに、個人的にはかなり期待していた今作。だが、サウンド面で期待していた「進化」は「深化」として纏まっており、全体的に前作の延長上の曲調になっている。

　昔からアルバム一枚の中でキメの数曲が異常にデキが良くて、後の曲では緩急を交えながら全体の雰囲気で聴かせる感じの作品が多い彼らだが、今回はトータル感は作れているが肝心のキメの曲に欠けるのが減点対象。ただ、キラー・チューンは無いものの、シングル・カットされた「Wrong」など、デイヴの歌の表現力に更に磨きがかかっている曲が幾つかあるのは今作の収穫だと思う。全体的に地味なアルバムだが、前作の曲同様、ライブで演奏されると違った印象になるかも。とりあえず、前作が好きだった人は「買い」でしょう。

自分への記念品

パッケージ内容は各レビューで紹介されてますが、素晴らしい内容です。
アルバム本編、リミックス、デモ音源、ショートフィルム、豪華写真集・・・・
これでもか！と言わんばかりの盛り沢山振りです。
おまけに、３人のサイン入りのシリアルカードも入ってました！！

彼等の長いキャリア同様、自分も含め長年ファンをしてきた者への記念品のようなパッケージだと思います。
彼等と人生を共に歩んできたファンの皆様、是非手にして、結成３０周年の喜びを共に喜び、分かちあいましょう！！

そして今度こそは！と来日公演を祈りましょう！

demoの評価

やはりヒット曲のデモが聴けるところがウリであるだろう。
ここでわかるのは、マーティンの作曲能力の高さだろう。
このようなものが基盤となって、完成するのなら名曲になると確信する内容。
マニアは驚くはず、又アルバムからもれた曲も逸脱で彼らの音楽に対する真摯な姿勢が伝わる。しかし、１２０００ですからね。評価は最高にはつけられないですね

前作の延長上の作品

　デペッシュモードの新作だが、印象としては前作からのインターバルがかなり短いなと・・・。それだけ活動モードに入っているのでしょう。彼らのアルバムは全作愛聴しており、最も尊敬するバンドなのだが、前作と今作のサウンドの路線は個人的には何かワクワクするような新鮮な感覚がないんですよね。今回も勿論現役感バリバリの時代の潮流を捉えた力作なのですが、過去のデペッシュのイメージを縮小再生産状態というか、要するにプロデューサーのBen Hillierがしっくりこない。ブラーとかのプロデューサーですよ。エレクトロニック方面の人やないやん。彼ら的には二回目ということは相当気に入ったようだが、このBen Hillierの音作りは強烈にアランワイルダー不在のサウンド面での弱さを強調されているような気がする。ここ数年の最近作ではティムシムノンやマークベルといったテクノ方面のプロデューサーを起用した作品があまり好評ではなく、Ben Hillierを起用した前作は評判が良いというのが一般的な見方だが、これが納得いかない。個人的にはティムシムノンやマークベルとやったアルバムのほうがデペッシュの楽曲の魅力をより際出させていたように感じるのだが。評論家的には様々な流行のサウンドのパターンを駆使して押し出してくるよりも、前作や今作のようにアルバムに統一感があって落ち着いた雰囲気のほうが好まれたのだろうか。本作もいつものデペッシュ節全開の力作だが、やはり過去のアルバムと比較すると地味な印象が強い。殆ど前作の続編みたいな音世界なので、前作が好きな人は当然気に入るだろう。個人的には前作とはガラっと雰囲気を変えて欲しかったのだが・・・・。
